Ackerman Report 2005
by Bob Bolles
Quote from page 3: "By using a precise laser alignment system, such as this one
from True Laser Track, we can measure the amount of steering in each front wheel
to determine if we have either Acermann or Reverse Ackermann. The movement in
inches of the laser dot on the target is translated into exact toe gain or loss.
No method is more accurate than this." (click

Drivers let in on secrets at FinishLine Racing
By MATT KANE (Correspondent)
Daytona News Journal
Last update: July 02, 2005
SAMSULA -- Drive the car hard and make it turn.
That's the motto Mike Ledbetter, Mark C. Lowrey and Michael Annett had been
driving by in their pursuit of success in the racing world.
That is until Tuesday when, while attending the first of two days at Mike
Loescher's FinishLine Racing School at New Smyrna Speedway, they learned the
secret to shaving seconds off lap times is not to push the car harder but,
instead, to ease up.

his home and sees only bouncing basketballs.
Folks are looking for him. Important folks. Former NBA star Magic Johnson is the
point man, cultivating his professional and personal contacts with a historic
challenge in mind: Find an African-American driver to compete among NASCAR's
elite teams. (read more....)

Racing In The Sunshine State
By D. J. Kennington
As Featured in Performance Racing News
March 2000
I had no idea my race season would be starting in March this year. On Dec. 23,
1999 I received a call from Performance Racing News informing me I won a
scholarship for a class at the Finish Line Racing School (Ed. DJ was awarded
this scholarship courtesy of PRN for his strong showing during the '99 Eastern
and National Series season). At the time it seemed like a great opportunity for
me to get out of the shop and have some fun driving a race car in sunny Florida,
instead of working on our Castrol Dodge Avengers here in the snow. It's so hard
to get pumped up working on the cars when you walk outside and can't see any
asphalt - it's hard to believe summer will ever come. Thanks to Performance
Racing News, however, I was on my way to Florida to meet Mike and Krystal
Loescher and the gang at FinishLine. (read more....)

S0 YOU'RE GONNA' GO RACING. MAYBE you're a beginner - maybe not. Maybe you're an
aspiring king of racing - maybe not. No matter what path of racing you want to
take, a lot of things have to be solidly in place for any racer to be
Successful. If you eliminate all the things that are needed regarding great
chassis, engines, crew help, and the like, what's left is the information a
driver, new or experienced, has in his head. (read
