FinishLine Racing School teams with National Geographic
FinishLine Racing School is teaming up with the National Geographic Channel to
help “A Guy with a Dream” – to become a professional driver in NASCAR Nextel
That guy is 22 year-old, Indiana native, and Purdue student - Brad Kuhn.
Kuhn started his racing career at the age of six in quarter midgets in the
Mid-West area. Kuhn was Region 4 Points Champion, Big Z Track Champion and
Kokomo Track Champion in 1988, just his second year of quarter midget racing; he
repeated as Kokomo Track Champion in 1989 and was Indiana State Champion in 1992
Kuhn moved up to Mini Sprints in 1995 where he won Rookie of the Year, placed
8th in points with 4 race wins and finished 6th at the World Nationals. Kuhn
finished 4th in points with 19 race wins and finished 11th at the World
Nationals in 1996. Kuhn finished 2nd in points with 1 win and 2 national wins
his last year in Mini Sprints in1997.
In 1998 Kuhn moved up to Midgets and won the Rookie of the Year at Speedrome and
finished 6th in points with 14 top10’s.
Kuhn moved up to the USAC ranks in 2000 where he finished 3rd in points with 2
wins, 18 top 10’s and 11 top 5’s. Kuhn proved himself even more in 2001 becoming
the 17th Annual Tom Knowles Memorial Champion, 30th National Midget Driver of
the Year, 4th in Hoosier Lottery "Hut 100", 11th in USAC Regional Dirt Points,
10th in NAMARS National Midget Points, and 7th in NAMARS "5 Crown".
Kuhn has competed in the 2003 and 2004 Chili Bowl’s and has raced for (and
against) Tony Stewart.
Kuhn will attend the FinishLine Racing School Introduction to Stock Car Racing
class February 1 – 4, 2004 where he will learn what it takes to race against
some of the top Florida Super Late Model drivers. This may be Kuhn’s first time
behind the wheel of a stock car, but his racing stats speak for them selves.
National Geographic Channel will begin filming Kuhn February 1, 2004 when he
begins attending the FinishLine Racing School and culminating with the World
Series of Asphalt Super Late Model race on February 7, 2004 where he’ll compete
against the likes of B.J. McLeod (FinishLine Racing School graduate and winner
of the Red Eye held at New Smyrna Speedway January 3, 2004) Billy Bigley Jr.,
David Rogers, Jack Cook, and Dick and Wayne Anderson.
Kuhn's Super Late Model will be sponsored by Newport Outlet Stores and Simpson.
